After experiencing lower-back pain during a practice session prior to the first One-Day International, Wanindu Hasaranga will return home from Sri Lanka's current tour of England. The all-rounder, who did not play in the first game of the series, has been disqualified from the remaining three matches and will begin his rehabilitation in Sri Lanka. Prior to the opening ODI, Hasaranga first experienced discomfort during practice. After that, the management of the team decided to rest him for the game before keeping him out of the series. The most recent setback adds to Hasaranga's long list of absences caused by injuries. He missed the 2023 ODI World Cup after suffering a hamstring injury, while at the 2026 T20 World Cup, he injured his hamstring in Sri Lanka’s opening game against Ireland and missed the remainder of the tournament.
