Litton Das ruled out of ODI tri-series, Towhid Hridoy to lead

Bangladesh Cricket Board announced on Saturday that ODI skipper Litton Kumar Das is ruled out of the ongoing tri-nation series in UAE involving Zimbabwe and Afghanistan due to a hip injury. Litton, who was expected to be at the toss alongside Zimbabwean skipper Sikandar Raza and begin his tenure as Bangladesh’s full-time ODI captain, was ruled out at the last minute after he failed to pass the fitness test ahead of the game. He is replaced by Parvez Hossain Emon, who last played in an ODI in July 2025. According to BCB physiotherapist Bayejedul Islam Khan, Litton complained of pain in his right hip on Friday. This led team management to schedule an MRI scan, which revealed a joint issue that will keep Litton out of the tri-nation series. Yesterday, Litton Kumar Das expressed discomfort in his right hip joint. We conducted an MRI, and the report showed that he has a problem in the right hip joint,” Bayejedul said in a video message released by the BCB. “He still tried to complete the fitness test today to see whether he could play. Bayejedul continued, "But he could not meet the benchmark we wanted, so he is not available for this series." ODI vice-captain Towhid Hridoy will lead the side in Litton’s absence.
