Indian batter Mayank Agarwal has signed a short-term deal with Durham, that makes him available for the final four County Championship fixtures of the season. Agarwal, who has scored a double century in Test cricket, has played for India 21 times in red-ball cricket, in addition to five ODIs. Even though he last played for the national team more than four years ago, the veteran continues to play first-class cricket for Karnataka, his home team. Agarwal was also a member of the RCB team that won the IPL final last year. Agarwal signed with Yorkshire for his first county season around the same time last year, playing in three games. Even though he registered a couple of ducks in his first three innings, Agarwal bowed out in style by smashing 175 against his current team Durham. “We are delighted to have Mayank joining us for our County Championship run in," Head Coach, Ryan Campbell said. “We acted by recruiting a high-class international cricketer for the remainder of the season because David Bedingham returned to South Africa prior to their international red ball summer. "We look forward to him contributing to Durham as we look to secure our return to Division One of the County Championship," according to Durham. "Mayank is a hugely talented batter who has a superb first-class record."
