Shreyas Iyer climbs to No. 7 in ICC T20I rankings after maiden ton

Shreyas Iyer zoomed up 18 spots on the ICC's rankings for men's T20I batters after hitting his first century in the format, an unbeaten 43-ball 102 that helped India beat West Indies in the series opener in Lucknow. Iyer, the third-highest-placed India batter on the table, is currently at a career-best No. 7. Ishan Kishan, who scored an unbeaten 27-ball 37, is at No. 1, with Abhishek Sharma, who hit 21 in ten balls, at No. 2. Between the top two and Iyer are Pakistan's Sahibzada Farhan, England's Harry Brook and Jos Buttler, and South Africa's Dewald Brevis. Sherfane Rutherford, who shot a 34-ball 56, was the other big mover, despite being much further down the list. He moved up one spot to No. 37. Abrar Ahmed of Pakistan fell to Rashid Khan in the rankings of bowlers. In the Asian Games' semifinal and final, Abrar's scores of none for 29 and one for 29 were not good enough to keep him at the top. He is currently No. 2. This is Rashid's eighth time leading the table; he has held that position for more than twice as long as anyone else. Axar Patel, whoe finished the Asian Games with four wickets in two games and took 2 for 26 against West Indies, jumped 16 places to get to No. 7. The Bangladesh spin duo of Nasum Ahmed and Mahedi Hasan also advanced, moving up three spots to eighth and ten places to ninth, respectively. * Shubman Gill consolidates his No.1 spot in ODIs After his 223 not out in the second ODI against West Indies - his second double century in the format - Shubman Gill extended his lead over Daryl Mitchell at the top of the ODI batters' table to 47 points. Mitchell moved up to No. 2 because Virat Kohli dropped to No. 2 after scoring a century in the first ODI but finishing with 29 and a duck in the subsequent matches against West Indies. 3. Shai Hope led West Indies in that third ODI with a match-winning 162 not out, which helped him rise two spots to No. 6, while KL Rahul, whose own century in that match was unsuccessful, rose seven spots to No. 10. With his three-wicket haul in the third ODI against India, Jayden Seales moved up 12 spots to No. 10 among bowlers.
