Thunder and Stars win WBBL and BBL draft lotteries

Sydney Thunder will have the principal pick in the debut WBBL abroad draft, while Melbourne Stars will get the primary pick in the BBL draft that will be hung around the same time on September 3, following the draft lottery that was held last Friday. Cricket Australia (CA) declared the draft lottery results on Monday evening and affirmed that the two drafts will be kept down to-move in Melbourne,, with the two drafts to be broadcast on Foxtel and Kayo. CA held the debut BBL draft last year and have added an indistinguishable WBBL draft this year including a weighted lottery to choose the principal pick. In the WBBL, the four groups who missed the finals last season - Sydney Thunder, Melbourne Mavericks, Melbourne Stars and Perth Scorchers - had sections in the principal pot to see who might get the main pick. Thunder had four passages, Rebels three, Stars two and Scorchers one, which depended on where they completed on the table last season. Thunder, who completed last and had the most possibilities in the lottery, acquired the main pick, trailed by Rebels, Scorchers and Stars.
