Pre-Series Tune-Up: Bumrah and Pant Expected to Feature Against New Zealand A
Match Target: Jasprit Bumrah is expected to play in the third and final unofficial Test between India A and New Zealand A, scheduled for November 7–10 in Lincoln. Pant's Status: Rishabh Pant is also likely to feature in the same match, though his inclusion is subject to receiving formal fitness clearance from the BCCI medical staff.
Upcoming Tour Context: Both players are included in India's squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against New Zealand, which runs from November 19 to December 1 in Wellington and Christchurch.
Pant is recovering from the side strain he suffered during the Irani Cup, where he led Rest of India to victory against Jammu & Kashmir in the first week of October. The injury ruled Pant out from playing for Delhi in the first round of the Ranji Trophy as well as the first two unofficial Tests against New Zealand A.
Training and Return-to-Play Plans
Centre of Excellence: Both Bumrah and Pant are currently training at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. Pant arrived on Friday, while Bumrah checked in on Monday.
Bumrah's Schedule: Bumrah's visit fulfills obligatory return-to-play conditions ahead of the series before he flies out to New Zealand on November 1. He last played during the Asian Games in Japan in early October and was rested for the home white-ball series against West Indies and the ongoing New Zealand tour.
Pant's Injury Recovery: Pant is recovering from a side strain suffered while leading Rest of India in the Irani Cup in early October. The injury sidelined him from Delhi's Ranji Trophy opener and the first two unofficial Tests against New Zealand A.
Replacements & Squad Adjustments
Wicketkeeping Cover: While Pant has begun light batting drills, he has not yet resumed wicketkeeping. Jharkhand's Kumar Kushagra has been named as his replacement for the first two four-day matches against New Zealand A.
