Amir Jangoo Drafted Into West Indies T20I Squad as Injury Cover for Jewel Andrew
Late Addition: Wicketkeeper-batter Amir Jangoo has been drafted into the West Indies T20I squad as cover for 19-year-old Jewel Andrew ahead of the five-match series starting October 6 in Lucknow.
Injury Context: Andrew suffered a finger injury while taking a catch to dismiss Naman Dhir during the third ODI in New Chandigarh. Scans ruled out a fracture, but he remains under observation by the medical team and has not been officially ruled out of the series.
In-Form Call-Up: Jangoo enters the T20I squad in red-hot form following a stellar three-match ODI series against India, where he scored 239 runs (58*, 114, and 67) to finish as the third-highest run-scorer across both teams. T20 Experience: The 29-year-old has featured in seven T20Is for the West Indies since his debut in December 2024 and recently won the CPL 2026 title with Antigua and Barbuda Falcons.
His strike-rate from 34 T20s is poorer at 104.25, but he played his part in Antigua and Barbuda Falcons' run to the CPL 2026 title in September, finishing with 213 runs, though his strike-rate continued to be well below par: 107.57. His most important innings in CPL 2026 came in the title contest, when he scored 57 not out in 34 balls, hitting four fours and three sixes, as Falcons won by eight wickets against Jamaica Kingsmen.
